Police checks: While mandatory within government positions, to properly understand the quality of applicant you are potentially hiring, a police check may be appropriate. Providing you have a legitimate reason to request a police check such as the person will have access to sensitive information, interacts with the community and/or vulnerable community groups or a person of upstanding personal repute is required, a police check can be requested.
Working rights check: As an employer, it is your legislative requirement to ensure your employees have the appropriate visa, citizenship or residency status to work in Australia. Generally, this can be achieved through the verification of an Australian birth certificate, but for applicants who were not born in Australian, residency and visa verification is required. If you are unsure of what rights your applicant’s status permits, we recommend checking with us for advice. A working rights check is included with the police checks we conduct.
